Training Programmes
One of our take-off ventures is the Collaborative Media Engagement for Development Inclusivity and Accountability Project, a targeted training of journalists which we are undertaking under the auspices of the Wole Soyinka Center for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ), and the sponsorship of the MacArthur Foundation.
In this effort, FrontFoot teams, accompanied by audit, budget, accounting and media experts, worked in pre-selected states where they conducted free training for journalists on the constitutional office and role of Auditors-General. Participants learned how and where to locate the relevant reports, interpret the material, and write engaging stories and features to enlighten, stimulate and empower the electorate, and discourage impunity.
In our workshops, which were spread over three years (2022-2024), we trained over 150 reporters. We also held Media Roundtables with over 100 editors and managers in all arms of the mass media on the Auditor-General’s annual report and broader accountability issues.
